If you are planning a night out with friends at your local bar or tavern, it is crucial that you determine who is the designated driver beforehand. Establishing a designated driver before leaving for a night out on the town will help keep everyone safe on the roads.
Driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated are leading causes of death and injury in young people. Even a few drinks is enough to affect judgment and reaction time. Often, a driver is impaired without even knowing it. Thus, determining who will be the designated driver beforehand will ensure that the driver is not intoxicated or impaired in their driving abilities.
If you do not have a someone with you willing to be your designated driver, do not get behind the wheel. Call someone to pick you up, or call a taxi service. Again, setting up a designated driver beforehand will help you avoid a situation in which you are unable to be responsible. You should never get behind the wheel after a night of drinking. If you do, you are putting your life, and other’s lives, at risk.
By taking the time to establish or find a designated driver, you are being responsible with your life and other’s.
